Service History

The Roseville K9 unit has served the citizens and law enforcement officers of Roseville and the surrounding community since 1976.

Mission

The goal of the K9 unit is to make police work safer and more efficient for the men and women who patrol the streets.

The mission of the K9 unit is to provide highly trained K9 officer teams who serve, in a timely and professional manner, both the officers of the Roseville Police Department and the citizens of the city.

Officer Mitch Christensen and K9 Cal – Cal is a Belgian Malinois from the Netherlands. He and was born in May of 2019 and loves being at work and playing fetch.

Cal has a very calm demeanor when not working or playing, but is a highly driven and intense dog when it is time to work or play. He is incredibly agile and athletic – he jumps high and runs extremely fast. Cal is not a fan of his days off, having downtime in his kennel, or taking baths.

Officer Zach Wiesner and K9 Rooster: Born in January of 2020, Rooster is a Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix that came to Roseville from Hungary. He has a lot of energy and loves to be social.

Rooster graduated from the St. Paul Police Department K9 Academy in the Spring of 2024. While there he learned patrol tactics, narcotics detection, and how to balance his high drive and energy. This allows him to differentiate when it’s time to work and when it’s time to play.
